So I was tasked to complete a artefact with a moving joint using Fusion360.Though I found the process tedious, I managed to learn a lot of new things using the app.

I have yet to print out my artefact, but I managed to create a hinge. I watched many different YouTube videos to understand and apply the different tool functions in Fusion360. For instance, when making the base of the hinge instead of using the body function I had to use the component function. I also learnt that to duplicate a feature in the body multiple times I do not have to redo the whole sketching process instead I can just use the rectangular pattern function. Creating a countersink and project geometry was bit of difficult to be done, because I had no mouse :(

Overall, I realised the most frequently used function when creating the hing was the extrude function , it was very easy to use and things easier as I did not have to manually cut out the holes and spaced between the brackets manually.

Compared to other conventional subtractive technologies Fusion 360 uses parametric modelling which makes it easier to modify both dimensions and feature on the sketch easily. Sketch made on the app can also be stimulated for better visualisation before we print it out. In short, The Fusion 360 platform provides a comprehensive set of tools and capabilities that are designed to improve the design and manufacturing process. It provides more flexibility, innovation and efficiency.

In order to transform Fusion 360 drawing into a 3D plastic model it is crucial to not only ensure drawing is in solid form but also that there are no surface of mesh components. I also have to ensure that are no overlapping surfaces in the drawing to prevent faults during printing. In class I also learnt about many different types of filament we can use to print such as PLA,Carbon fibre , PVA,PETG,TPU and ABS. Although I have not printed my drawing , I know that our school uses PLA filament and I do know it is bio-degradable and produces less odour during printing.

That's it for my BLOG 3. see y'all in the fourth !
